MIFALY HAVANJA
MIFALY HAVANJA is a transformative initiative that combines a gender and intersectional approach with the aim of empowering children in small villages of Madagascar. Recognizing the importance of equality and inclusivity, the project ensures that all children, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, or social background, have access to nutritious meals during main celebrations. By prioritizing food security, the project tackles the issue of hunger and malnutrition, which disproportionately affects marginalized groups.
In addition to providing meals, the project takes a holistic approach to child development. It incorporates a comprehensive curriculum that includes teaching children how to cook traditional Malagasy dishes. By instilling culinary skills, the project promotes responsibility and education, empowering children to take charge of their own well-being. This aspect of the project ensures that children acquire practical knowledge and valuable life skills, which can contribute to their self-sufficiency and future success.
At its core, MIFALY HAVANJA places a strong emphasis on the well-being and happiness of children. It recognizes that development goes beyond physical health and encompasses emotional, social, and psychological aspects. Through the celebrations of “fihavanana,” which embodies unity and solidarity within the community, the project fosters an environment that promotes joy, belonging, and positive relationships. By prioritizing well-being and happiness as development goals, the project supports the holistic growth of children, enabling them to live fulfilling and normal lives.
Health is another essential component of the project’s approach. By ensuring food security, promoting nutrition, and incorporating education on healthy eating practices, the project addresses the children’s physical well-being. It aims to combat malnutrition and related health issues, improving the overall health outcomes of the children in the targeted villages. By prioritizing health, the project contributes to their long-term development and the creation of a healthier community.
